100% carbon neutral – Participants were encouraged to offset their own flights, via Ekos webpage for carbon offsets for this specific event with three categories of participant available.

In addition, GIZ together with Ekos, tracked the carbon footprint of the event and offset any remaining carbon emissions made from participant travel and supply chain. This also covered all the carbon emitted from the event planning so the event was 100% carbon neutral.

The inaugural Pacific Resilience Meeting brought together over 300 participants to take stock of the implementation of the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific and highlight how communities and countries in the Pacific were strengthening resilience in an era of escalating disaster and climate risks.

Themed, Youth Futures in a Resilient Pacific, the meeting showcased inspiring examples of youth action, and communities and sectors working inclusively to save and improve lives and protect livelihoods and together.

The Pacific Resilience Meeting was held in collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) Global Climate Change Plus flagship initiative (GCCA+) meeting and built on the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) of the Climate Action Pacific Partnership (CAPP). Outcomes were fed into the CAPP III Conference that was held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on 13 and 14 May 2019.
